Here is what I do at the end of every day before hitting the sack.

1) Hit Farming for 8 hours (4 if you don’t yet have enough Farming Villages).

2) Make sure that your “Queue’s” are full. Buy buildings, troops and ships to get your resources as low as possible because you never know when someone is going to attack while you’re not around.

3) Find the Farming village that is the furthest along the road towards its next level, and send all your remaining resources to it – every night! That way we're all contributing to the next level faster. If you’re attacked, depending on your Warehouse size and what time you’re attacked (since you’ll collect resources all night long), you could lose resources to that attack.
